Mum Cat Program

Adelaide Pets Alive! can offer free desexing to owned mum cats when her kittens have been surrendered into our care.

Desexing mum cat supports her physical and mental health because it prevents the cycle of pregnancies. It reduces the number of kittens owned, semi owned and transient to community kittens. The most significant barrier to desexing is cost, so helping people desex their cat is the best solution our organisation can offer.

Thank you to our generous donors from Adelaide, Australia and overseas, we are now able to extend our services to helping owned pets and their owners!

If you own a pregnant cat, or own a cat that has had kittens, please contact us via email at hello@adelaidepetsalive.org.au to discuss your options.

Rental Laws in SA

In South Australia, tenants applying to keep a pet in a rental premises can no longer have their application refused unless the refusal is based on a ground listed in the Residential Tenancies Act 1995.

A landlord or agent can’t state ‘no pets allowed' - unless pets are specifically prohibited in the property's strata, community title, rooming house or residential park rules - or charge a separate pet bond, although they can impose reasonable conditions regarding the type of pet and nature of the premises. Stay informed of your rights.
